The Greatest Recent Comic You May Not Have Bought – World War Hulks: Spider-Man Vs Thor

Okay. So no one can blame you for not buying this. For not ordering this. For not picking this off the stands when you passed by. Spider-Man and Thor, turned into Hulk creatures, having some kind of misunderstanding, spread out over two issues. Very little actually happens in terms of plot. And the end is basically back where it started. Plotwise it is of no consequence whatsoever. And it's beautiful.

Here are five reasons to track it down.

1. It's written by Kieron Gillen. He allegedly wrote it while he was drunk.

2. It has indepth look at Thor and Peter Parker's childhoods, Thor's fraternal responsibilities and Peter Parker dealing (or not) with bullies.

3. Then it has scenes like this.

4. And this.

5. Also, relatively low print run from a writer becoming increasingly hot and, oh Bleeding Cool has just done a piece on it. And right now you can pick the books up for a buck each on eBay. Hella value for what could well be one of the milestones in comic books of 2010. Intentionally "so bad it's good" – and it works. Also, you really don't want to buy this in the trade …

So what are you waiting for? Thor Smash!
