CourtWatch: From the Detroit News;

"She wanted his love," Macomb County Assistant Prosecutor Steve Fox told a circuit court jury Wednesday. "He wanted a new life. He wanted to get rid of his overweight wife and get something better."

Our intention is to set up a temporary, or "pop-up," brick-and-mortar location for the Jack Kirby Museum during this November, December and January. The ideal size for this purpose is between 800-1,200-square-feet, and would feature original artwork, artifacts from Jack's life, prominent guest speakers, educational programs and installation pieces inspired by and celebrating the unique work and life of Jack Kirby.

Fleischers' Superman at 70 — the best on-screen Man of Steel? | Hero Complex – movies, comics, fanboy fare – latimes.com

Although their studio was searching for a new character to replace Betty Boop, whose cartoon series had ended in 1939, the brothers Fleischer initially turned down Paramount's offer to animate "Superman." In an interview given later in his life, Dave Fleischer recalled: "I didn't want to make 'Superman.' Paramount wanted it. I told them because it was too expensive, they wouldn't make any money back on it. The average short cost nine or ten thousand dollars, some ran up to fifteen. I couldn't figure how to make 'Superman' look right without spending a lot of money. I told them they'd have to spend $90,000 on each one … [and] they spent the $90,000. But they were great."

"One of my favorite thrillers is Ira Levin's A KISS BEFORE DYING, because right in the middle of the novel…well, the cliche phrase would be, 'Levin pulls the rug right out from under you,' but that doesn't do his legendary plot twist justice," said Swierczynski. "Forget the rug being pulled out from under you… when you reach that point in KISS, it's as if someone's rolled up that rug and proceeded to use it to beat the living crap out of you. That's what I'm shooting for with this first arc of BIRDS OF PREY. I won't tell you where it is (other than somewhere in issue #4) But If I'm doing my job, you'll be relaxing, enjoying your comic, and then…"
