Tina Fey And Paul Rudd Give Permission To Admission

Tina Fey And Paul Rudd Give Permission To AdmissionAlasdair Stuart writes for Bleeding Cool.

Tina Fey's work on Mean Girls remains one of my favourite movies of the last decade or so, and the fact it made that list without featuring brave, doomed Celtic men doing difficult things or robots punching one another is as much a shock to me as it is to you. Fey's a fiercely smart scriptwriter with a cheerfully nasty, grounded sense of humour and she raises whatever material she's part of.

Which is why I'm looking forward to Admission. 24 Frames, over at the LA Times are reporting on the Karen Croner-scripted, Paul Weitz-directed picture, about a college admissions counselor who finds herself drawn to a man she went to school with. That man, they say, was originally going to look a lot like Owen Wilson but is now starting to look distinctly Paul Rudd shaped

Weitz, fresh off Being Flynn, certainly has the dramatic chops to balance out the funny and the two principles are always good value. In fact, I'd say Rudd is a very definite step up and to the side (possibly even jump to the left) from Wilson.

Wilson's more than capable of doing great work with a good script, but for my money, there could be something slightly funnier about putting two overly articulate, panicky brunettes in this particular sack and letting them chew their way out.
