PosterWatch: Paolo Rivera talks about creating the painted Captain America movie poster.

I'm taking a break from my blog break today to finally reveal my secret project from the beginning of the year! Late last year, I had asked Marvel if they would consider a painted approach for any of their upcoming movies. To prove I was up to the task, I did aCaptain America poster "on spec" (which was later used as the cover to a movie tie-in comic). As it turned out, the job was already taken, but they liked my work well enough to commission a "vintage" poster that would be given as a gift to the entire cast and crew.

DCRelaunchWatch: Looks like many of the redesigns we've seen… aren't final.

Quentin: Did you have any input into the Wonder Woman re-design? If so, why was the decision made to change so much of her iconic look (insignia, belt, color scheme, etc)?

Cully Hamner: Well… you haven't yet seen the final look. Not sure it's quite as different as you might think. In fact, a number of the images released aren't final– not sure why, to be honest. Suffice to say, though, that some details will change in the books as released.

SignWatch3: Greg Pak, Fred Van Lente & Mark Paniccia signing Alpha Flight #1 at Midtown Comics Downtown in Manhattan on Saturday from 2pm to 3pm.

SlamWatch: CNet provides a more refreshing mainstream take on Bluewater biograohy comics, covering their upcoming Steve Jobs comic.

Bluewater biographies generally consist of art cribbed from photos with explanatory captions, rather than an attempt to dramatise the subject's life or provide insight into what makes them tick — like a Wikipedia article with better pictures, we suppose. We are impressed with Bluewater's commitment to comics about US political figures and issues, demystifying politics for younger readers — or those with a short attention span, like us.

Wednesday Runaround – A License To ShillThis is Computo the Comic Link Conqueror speaking. I come for your women. But for now I merely collate comic-related bits and pieces online. One day I will rule. Until that day, read on.

They say I am a work in progress. The fools.

Phil Hester Talks About Rebuilding The Bionic Man With Kevin Smith – Comic Vine

I'm in that age group that grew up watching the original show. It was pretty rare to see anything even remotely super-heroic on television then, and Steve Austin's adventures were like an oasis. Like anyone my age, it's impossible to do any sort of exercise without making the "nnh-nnh-nnh-nnhh" sound effect under my breath.

Father's Day Tribute To Jack Kirby From His Son « CO2 COMICS BLOG

I've just turned 63 and my fathers' been gone over 18 years, but I still cry when I think of him, especially when I see one of those overly realistic WW II shows, and I see him as a young man trudging through northern France dodging machine guns, mortars, and those dreaded '88's, until his feet froze inside his boots.   I cry when I think of all the nights I spent in his little 10X10 studio in the basement of our Long Island home ("the Dungeon") watching a Brooklyn Dodger game or Victory at Sea on a little black and white TV in a wooden cabinet.  Most of all I miss watching him create and draw.  He would sit there, hours on end, pipe or cigar in mouth, right hand flying over the page, sometimes simultaneously writing story notes or script in the margins for the mythology that became the Marvel Universe.   And always surrounded by bookcases full of his beloved books: history, mythology, Science fiction – especially the pulps!

Fialkov Proclaims "I, Vampire" – Comic Book Resources

Asked how a series like "I, Vampire" — which might previously have fallen under the Vertigo umbrella — maps to what has long been a predominantly superhero-focused DCU, Fialkov said that the relaunch, coupled with his own inclinations as a writer, allows for some interesting possibilities. "If you've read any of my other work, you know that it's almost impossible for me to just write something normal and straight. I like to think that's part of why they came to me to write the book," he said. "The book definitely leans that way, but, I think the point for me is to show just how wide the scope of the DCU is. I'm using toys that have always been there; I'm just using them in different ways.

Why Is DC/WB Vendetta Against Superman Copyight Lawyer Relying On Stolen Files? – Deadline.com

There's been another development in the Superman copyright litigation case. Actually, this is a carnival sideshow to that case and a disgusting exercise by DC Comics and its big Hollywood studio Warner Bros to continue to trample the rights of the Superman rights-holders, the estates of co-creators Jerome Siegel and Joseph Shuster.
