Rylend Grant Takes The Jump to Kickstarter, Via Astral Projection
The Jump is a new comic from Hollywood screenwriter Rylend Grant, artist Fabio Alves, colourist Edson Ferreira, and letterer HdE… the same creative team behind superhero noir Banjax from Action Lab. Grant also wrote Aberrant, currently optioned for TV by Tony Krantz. So, when he launches Jump on Kickstarter, it has a little pedigree behind it… and Grant would like to underline this.
Rylend Grant writes "I'm a screenwriter by trade. For over a decade, I've made my living writing smart psychological thrillers for directors like JJ Abrams, Ridley Scott, Justin Lin, John Woo, Luc Besson, and F. Gary Gray, so I can't help but think of things in cinematic terms. The Jump is a smart, high-concept sci-fi thriller full of meaty twists and turns. It is Inception meets The Bourne Identity… if it were dripping with macabre and directed by David Fincher. Now tell me that doesn't sound cool?"
You'll have seen Rylend Grant on the Black List a couple of times and, oh yes, he was also a dead body in CSI and appeared briefly in Captain America: Winter Soldier as a stabbing vagrant.
After a series of crippling personal tragedies, Thomas Northrope retreats from his everyday life and finds comfort in an online community dedicated to the art of astral projection. When he demonstrates a unique aptitude for the practice, Thomas becomes the target of a mysterious corporate/political machine – known as AJAX – bent on using promising young practitioners to win a centuries-old war on the astral plane.
In the world of The Jump, the astral plane amounts to psychic real estate… another proverbial mound of dirt to be carved up, claimed, and fought over by politicians, influential businessmen, and the cultural & religious elite.
Here's a preview of what's to come…
Oh and they also hit their first two stretch goals and so now each and every backer will receive a free print and their bonus digital books from a bunch of different comic creators. He has big friends. So there's that too…
