Shonen Magazine to Run "Marvel Manga Awards" to Recruit Japanese Marvel Talent

Japanese weekly comic anthology Shonen Magazine is running the second of its Marvel Manga Awards competitions. The winning entrant (whether professional or amateur) to draw "Iron Man", "Captain America", "Spider-Man", and "Other Characters" will have their work commissioned and serialised, on top of winning 3 million Yen (around $30,000 USD). And those who don't win may also get the opportunity to be commissioned professionally.

The entry deadline is May 10th, 2018, and the winners will be announced on Shonen's Magamega website around August 18th.

New Marvel Editor-In-Chief C.B. Cebulski tweeted out the news:

Last year's winner, Kōhei Uchida, created the Guardians of the Galaxy: Galaxy Rush serialised on DeNA's free Manga Box app every Wednesday. Here's what this year's competitors will have to aspire to — or beyond.
