Tesla's Ashes, From Museum To Church

It is reported that the ashes of scientist maverick and genius Nikolai Tesla (pictured above) are to be moved from the Tesla museum in Belgrade, Serbia, where they have been kept since 1957. His remains will now be kept at St Sava's Temple, with a monument to honour the man, alongside

The agreement was made between Serbian Orthodox Patriarch Irinej, Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlović, and head of the interim administration of the city of Belgrade, Siniša Mali.

The patriarch said on the occasion that there was "nothing more natural than for the earthly remains of the great thinker to rest in the holiest place of the Serb people – the temple dedicated to St. Sava, where a monument to Serbian founder George Petrovich.

Planned by the Serbian Orthodox Church, and supported by government, the plan is intended to unite Serbia's biggest names in religion, history and science, Sava, Tesla and Petrovich.

It';s expected to boost church attendance and it also helps that there's an election on the way and its a good bit of patriotic tub thumping.

Tesla was born and lived in Serbia until his late twenties, when he emigrated to the USA in 1884, where he innovated and invented much in the field of alternating current, communication and X-Rays, and has become a considerable pop culture figure of a scientist in the last twenty years.
