The Flash Year One Coming Next Year from DC Comics

It looks like it's time for DC to revisit Barry Allen's origin. At the DC World's Finest Panel at New York Comic Con Saturday, writer Joshua Williamson revealed that 2019 will be the year of The Flash: Year One. Bleeding Cool's Madeline Ricchiuto was on the scene at the panel to bring us this breaking news. Though Williamson referred to The Flash: Year One as "this year the book we're announcing…" he later seemed to imply the Year One story might take place in the Flash's ongoing title in Spring 2019 instead. We'll have to seek clarification on that.

"Barry Allen's sense of hope and optimism is such an important thing," Williamson said, revealing that the story would follow Barry from his mother's death to getting his powers to "the hero we know today."

Stay tuned to Bleeding Cool for more breaking news from New York Comic Con (when you can get past the 500 Internal Server errors), and check back later for a full panel report.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
