They Still Haven't Solved the Healthcare System in Venom 2099 #1 [Preview]
The solicitation for Venom 2099 #1 asks the question: what is Venom 2099? Answer: an attempt to snooker true believers into purchasing a one-shot tying into a transitional super-mega-crossover event during the holiday shopping season. But if you're wondering what Venom 2099 is in the actual comic, by Jody Houser, Francesco Mobili, and Geraldo Borges, it's apparently a drug Alchemax is giving out in the latest incarnation of the 2099 future universe, and presumably it's going to turn people into Venoms, like during those Cullen Bunn super-mega-crossover events. Let's read the preview and see.
Marvel included a preview page here, so you can see who else worked in the comic besides the people listed in the solicit.
Apparently Alchemax subscribes to the Rube Goldberg school of thought on manufacturing techniques. What the heck is even going on in this page?
Here we find that Venom 2099 is part of an experimental medical trial. It seems even 80 years in the future, scientists can't stop messing with things they shouldn't.
It seems Alchemax is giving this trial out for free to its employees, effectively using them as test subjects, even if they can't afford the trial on their own. So the economy hasn't changed much.
Yeah, that's not gonna go well.
Venom 2099 #1 hits stores on Wednesday.
