Unboxing The Legion Of Collectors First Box
The Legion of Collectors is the new Funko / DC comics bi-monthly random box. Like the Marvel's Collectors Corps, the Legion of Collectors box focuses on the specific publisher allowing fans to narrow down what they get somewhat. I recieved my first shipment, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice themed box, yesterday and here is what I got.
Leave now if you are getting one and don't want to knows.

Being that both are from Funko, there is a lot of similarities between the Collector Corps and the Legion of Collectors starting with the packaging. Sturdy boxes displaying art that fits in with the monthly theme. Another similarity is when you first open the box you find a patch and a pin waiting for you. I was a bit underwhelmed by these as the patch was essentially just the Wonder Woman logo and the pin was a a nice image of Superman, but in black & white. Would like to have seen a more dynamite patch and some color on the pin.
Also, similar to the first Collectors box, this one features a fight poster inspired t-shirt design featuring 80's style Batman and Superman about to face off. This is similar to the Avengers vs Ultron t-shirt that started out the Collectors Corps. My hope, and one of my complains about the other group, is that we'll see more of the comic style art for the t-shirts and less of the Pop! Vinyl figure style designs on the shirts. But being this is Funko and big-head Pop Vinyl figures are there thing, I'm guessing not.
Next up is a set of Dorbz. I haven't figured out the appeal of these things yet, nor why you'd want a green Superman or a light blue Aquaman… but if you collect Dorbz, these are probably a pretty exclusive set.
Then we get to the star of the box, the Pop! Vinyl Armored Batman figure. I've gotten kind of addicted to these little guys and they're the main reason I signed up for the boxes. This one looks really cool and you can see by the sticker on the front that this, along with all the other products, are exclusive to the Legion of Collectors which should help up their value.
And my second favorite thing in the box is the exclusive variant cover of Batman / Superman #5. Variants are all the rage right now and this is a nice way to get a cover that should be pretty rare.
Overall, I am a fan of the Collector Corps and now of the Legion of Collectors. I like these company specific boxes more than the completely random ones out there. But I do think the patch and pin were uninspired, the t-shirt was cool and I loved they used the classic style art. But it seems like the box was missing something. Maybe it's my disinterest in Dorbz and the fact it was a two-pack, but it seemed like it could have used one more item.
I look forward to whatever the second box will be in May.
