Vanguard – British Superheroes to Save the Day!

Dan Butcher, creator and artist of UK webcomic series Vanguard, has put together a collected edition of his British superheroes series.

Set in the near future, Vanguard features a small team of genetically-engineered super-humans who are employed by the British government at home and abroad to protect the nation's interests. Set mainly in the UK, the team will face an increasingly unstable political climate, along with rising crime, and a terrifying unseen new foe.

Vanguard is a fantastic, intelligent superhero series, that both brings to mind classic superhero stories and more modern takes like The Ultimates and The Authority. It's also really cool to see a comic where every aspect has been created by one creator. It has a strength of vision and some great style.

The book collects issues 1-5 of the Vanguard comic, with a cover from Chris Imber.
