Vault Comics Vows to Publish Vintage Homage Variants for Every New #1 in 2019

Vault Comics is set to party all year like it's 1999, even though it is actually 2019. The publisher has announced plans to publish variant covers with all its #1 issues this year! It's an idea that couldn't be more nineties if you wrapped it in holofoil. Actually, wait, we take that back, not only would that definitely be more nineties, but it would be totally awesome as well. The sadly non-holo non-foil variants will be part of the Vault Vintage line, homaging classic covers from comics' history. Nathan Gooden and Tim Daniel will draw and design each one.

A press release contains more details:

Missoula MT (3/11/2019): Vault Comics announced the first issue for each new series will feature a unique Vault Vintage homage variant cover. Each Vault Vintage cover will be drawn and designed by Nathan Gooden and Tim Daniel. Vault Vintage variants will be open order variants.

Begun in 2018, the Vault Vintage cover line celebrates the artistic achievements of both modern and legendary comics artists. The back cover of each Vault Vintage cover features a detailed history of the original cover and the creative team who produced. Vault Vintage covers are designed to celebrate the creators and covers they honor, and to ensure readers learn about some of the most important moments in comics history.

And Vault VP of Branding and Design Daniel said:

Comics are a continuum of artistic talent, storytelling and creation. We stand on the shoulders of those that have come before us and our Vintage cover line respectfully acknowledges their achievements. We hope you'll discover our amazing stories and go explore all of theirs!

Here's three Vault Vintage variants for upcoming books, homaging Michael William Kaluta's famous cover to the 1981 Madam Xanadu one-shot, Fiona Staples' cover for Saga #8, and Geoff Darrow's cover to Transmetropolitan #1 respectively.
