A lot of Marvel maniacs dutifully buying Old Man Quill may have seen the 12-issue maxi-series as yet another attempt to cash in on the Old [Gender] [Superhero] trend of comics, telling a future story involving a popular hero that will never actually take place since Marvel's universe is in a constant state of flux due to world-shaking super-mega-crossover events that change everything forever. But did you know, as seen in this preview of Old Man Quill #8, it's also ripping off the premise of an M. Night Shyamalan movie?
That's right. Star-Lord sees dead people. It turns out the Guardians have been dead the whole time, as revealed last issue, and in Old Man Quill #10, we will learn what really happened to them…
As one last mission seems to be going okay…
And the team infiltrates a Universal Church ship, and Drax has some kind words for Mantis.
But Gamora is all business… too bad we already know that none of them make it out alive…
Well, unless Gladiator is lying, of course.
Old Man Quill #8 hits stores on Wednesday.
