Who Is Punchline, Where Does She Come From? Batman, Joker Spoilers
What Comics After A Joke by James Tynion IV, Mikel Janin and Jordie Bellaire is the second strip in the Joker 80th Anniversary one-shot out today, which tells the origin of new breakout character, Punchline. And gives her a name, as college student Alexis, living in a college dormroom and the recipient of some unwelcome attention from the Dean.
I'm reminded of the time that Sacha Baron Cohen came to work at MTV dressed as Osama Bin Laden. It went over petty much as well as you'd ezpect.
It's more than just looking like the Joker that Punchline has in mind. There's also the paralysis Joker gas to work with.
And that Punchline has been planning this all a long, long time.
With a very specific look in mind for the moment.
With the name she wants to be known by now.
This was some time ago. We've seen Punchline pop up in a couple of Batman comic books since, but it appears that she has been part of the Joker's plans for some time, including an approach made to Deathstroke and seen in today's Batman: Secret Files #3.
And then, finally, the long-awaited Batman #92.
And I think Punchline is getting a catchphrase already.
As Punchline, the Joker's girlfriend, meets Harley Quinn, the ex.
Sorry, partner. Of course, you realise this means war. Harley has her hammer, Punchline has her knives. All depends whether you want comedy that bashes you over the head, or is a little more cutting…
More to come in Batman #93…
