Who Wants To Be A DC Comics Vice President?
Bleeding Cool ran a list of DC Comics people moving to Burbank…. and a lot of people who are not. Warners have begun advertising positions that will be filled in Burbank, and this is just the start. However, of the eighty-possibly-plus positions that will be vacated at DC Comics, not all will be filled in Burbank.
Vice President, Comic Book Specialty & Newsstand Sales
E. C. Publications, Inc. seeks a Vice President, Comic Book Specialty & Newsstand Sales for the Sales & Business Development department. The VP, Comic Book Specialty & Newsstand Sales will provide the strategic vision and oversee the selling based activities of the Comic Book Specialty, Newsstand and International Subsidiary rights teams for all publishing and DC Collectibles products. Duties will be comprised of being the direct contact for all internal departments to determine sales goals, reprint quantities, sales programming and promotions. The position will also be charged with managing the activities of Diamond Comics distribution for both publishing and DC Collectibles.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops the physical publishing and DC Collectibles sales strategies (launch timing, pricing, order estimates, etc.) – across the Comic Book Specialty, Distribution and Newsstand channels.

Manages the sales force against revenue targets, front list and backlist unit quantities and promotional program sell-in with accounts.

Maintains key retailer and partner relationships and additionally serves as the lead in terms negotiations.

Serves as the key liaison with Marketing, Editorial, Publishing Operations, Finance, Publicity and Digital and ensures that there in consistency of message for all new and backlist titles for all accounts.

Oversees the international subsidiary licensing business and look for efficient, profitable growth worldwide including sourcing new partners and improving existing relationships.

Develops a process to track and communicate expected demand for all titles and promotions to signal demand forecast to all relevant internal partners.

Develops a process to track the use of trade spending to insure that investments result in incremental business.

Manages and develops sales and subsidiary rights teams.
Vice President, Manufacturing Operations
DC Comics seeks a Vice President, Manufacturing Operations for the Manufacturing & Production (West Coast) department. Oversees DC's digital and film archives and the secure fulfillment of all approved orders. Oversees the prioritization of the archiving our historical assets based on different business needs. Oversees the identification process of miscellaneous digital assets held on spin media. Oversees the barcoding of all physical media held in house and the transfer to offsite long-term storage, referencing barcode with geographic location for future needs. Key person to lead the future changeover in how our assets are stored and can be viewed and accessed. Oversees the pre-press process on repurposed assets, where corrections/updates are required. Oversees the conversion of print assets for use in DC's digital publishing programme, including art and lettering corrections and authoring by internal and external resources.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees Pre-Press Services: Repurposed Materials team, ensuring work is distributed evenly to internal and external overflow resources to minimize peaks and troughs.

Oversees Archiving Services department, ensuring work is distributed evenly. Liaises with international Rights to assess future plans and plan fulfillment capacity accordingly. Works with Finance on developing new processes to capture Licensed Reprint and Licensed Order information affecting royalty calculations. Oversees the collection of, and communication about assets available to Digital Publishing, from which they develop their archival publishing plan.

Oversees Tech Ops, ensuring all current print and digital publishing assets are archived in a timely fashion. Liaises with Business Development to help assess and plan for sufficient fulfillment capacity, including future storage and cataloguing of foreign digital editions.

With Archiving Services and Tech Ops, will oversee the processing and transfer of the company archives to a new repository, upgrading the method of file storage, file transfer and order fulfillment. Plays a key role in defining the requirements of the new customer portal to alleviate many manual steps in order fulfillment, while ensuring the appropriate level of security and approvals are maintained.

Oversees Digital Production, ensuring work is distributed evenly to internal and external resources to support current and new distribution channels as necessary. Tracks quality and productivity goals. Work with in house and external lettering resources to streamline process, ensuring requirements are met.

Work with Manufacturing department management, other key internal departments and outside vendors to assess new technologies and vendor workflows. Plans for new systems and software upgrades; writes new workflows and oversees the training of department personnel.

Vice President, Mass & Digital Sales
E.C. Publications, Inc. seeks a Vice President, Mass & Digital Sales for the Sales & Business Development department. The Vice President, Mass Account & Digital Sales delivers financial targets through the direction and development of all commercial activity for Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon, Best Buy, iTunes, Comixology, iVerse and Barnes & Noble. Additionally, the position will oversee the selling based activities of all DC Publishing content and DC Collectibles to all remaining retailers through WHEG sales team. Develops and executes annual planning by customer through collaboration with Publishing, Executive leadership, Sales team, Marketing, Operations, Finance and other WB divisions and territories. Develops and directs sales team while utilizing and maximizing internal resources to achieve objectives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops and Drives Sales Strategy & Initiatives:
- Develop comprehensive sales strategies to increase DC Entertainment presence for both physical & digital publishing along with the collectible business in the Mass, digital and hybrid accounts.
- Oversees account development initiatives through 2 Sales Directors and 2 Managers.

Works with internal counterparts in Marketing, WHEG Sales, Collectibles and Sales Planning to develop a full calendar of products and promotions for the DC Sales Group:
- Creates unique and diverse slates of products in both physical & digital publishing along with DC Collectibles to gain prominent and consistent placement with WHEG products and also on a standalone basis.
- Works with retailers to develop annual sales plans complete with revenue projections and merchandising plans.
- Travels as necessary to conduct customer meetings, planning and training with local market teams.

Drives divisional collaboration within WB to maximize revenue and profit:
- Works closely with WB Games and WHV to ensure priorities and objectives are clearly understood creating synergistic activity for key DC themed marketing initiatives.

Develops and Maintains:
- Evaluates Directors' & Key Account Managers' performance against individual and overall sales goals, personal productivity, account relationships, interpersonal skills, communication skills, time management etc.
- Oversees, implements and monitors personnel's growth and development plans, conducting regular reviews and assessments with corrective guidance and action as needed.
- Assesses goals and monitors progress on all major corporate initiatives and programs. Brings focus and assigns relative weight to tasks in order to properly prioritize workload.
- Provides leadership and direction on key sales presentations, gaining internal WBHE alignment as necessary.

There are also positions previously advertised still on the site for an Editor, Creative Associate Live Action and Executive Assistant I.
One side-effect of this, I understand, is that conversations with staff members at other West Coast publishers such as Boom!, IDW and even Dark Horse should be interesting when it comes to contract renewal time. Having potential relatively-local jobs at DC Entertainment might see a premium added to certain folks' salaries in order to retain them.
