Apex Legends Boasts About Banning Over 770k Cheaters
Respawn Entertainment released a new developer update on Reddit this week boasting about their current ban totals on Apex Legends cheaters. While they don't get into details about how the system is working and the various updates they've integrated to detect cheating, they're very happy to post the results that include permanently banning the hardware of said cheaters and how they've managed to block several cheat seller accounts over the past three weeks. Here's a snippet from the post:
The recently added in-game reporting tool has had a big impact on discovering new cheats, including previously undetectable cheats that are now being found automatically via EAC
Total bans are now at 770K players
We have blocked over 300K account creations
We have banned over 4,000 cheat seller accounts (spammers) in the last 20 days
Total affected matches on PC impacted by cheaters or spammers has been reduced by over half in the last month due to recent efforts
It would be interesting to hear more details behind the system in place, but we understand why Respawn isn't going into details as they don't want people breaking the securities they're using and finding ways around them. Not like people aren't trying daily, but as long as they can keep Apex Legends one of the most secure games on the planet, good on them.
