David Jaffe Goes On Record About Bartlet Jones Future After Layoffs

Yesterday we reported on the layoffs that The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency went through after an unnamed game that was in development got canceled. Today, company co-founder David Jaffe chatted with Kotaku about where the company is headed from here. Below is a snippet from the brief interview, which is worth a read, as Jaffe explains what the company intends to do to keep the lights on. Ironically, this isn't the first time Jaffe has been in this position, as a previous company of his (Eat, Sleep, Play) went through a similar process before eventually shutting the doors in 2017. Time will tell to see how Jaffe's latest company survives layoffs.

Jaffe's plan is to assess whether there are other funding channels for the game while also playing around with a brand new game design. "Right now, Bartlet Jones is gonna be a very small team pacing around our office with a gas lamp asking if there's a game," Jaffe said. "If in a couple of weeks we decide it is, we'll get our heads back down and fight the fight. If not, we'll part as friends, raise a toast to Bartlet Jones and move on," Jaffe said, referencing the possibility of closing the studio.
