The First Screenshots Of Black Ops III's Zombies Chronicles Are DOA
Treyarch released a full press release announcement for Call of Duty: Black Ops III's Zombie Chronicles DLC after making the announcement last week. They also sent out a screenshot of each of the 8 maps that will be included in the content pack.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles releases on May 16th, first on the PlayStation Network for the PS4 and includes eight of everyone's most beloved Zombies maps from previous Treyarch Call of Duty games, including World at War, Black Ops and Black Ops II. The maps have been completely remastered so that they deliver many of the classic, thrilling Zombies origins storylines with stunning visuals, enhanced audio and new gameplay, which the press release says are "all updated for today's generation of consoles." Which does make you wonder about the lack of an Xbox One release date. Sure, Call of Duty rarely has console-exclusives, and all other map packs have appeared on both consoles after a few months, but Treyarch's been keeping any Xbox news out of their announcements so far, so that whole "generation of consoles" thing does make you wonder if it was an intentional slip or not.
The press release included a statement from Activision's Call of Duty General Manager and EVP, Rob Kostich, in which he says, "Call of Duty's Zombies has earned a special place in our hearts through its deep, layered gameplay, imaginative storylines and its compelling waves of action, which spans multiple titles. We're excited to share with fans these incredible moments in one comprehensive offering, available together on current generation hardware."
They also included a piece from Jason Blundell, Co-Studio Head of Treyarch and the man who made the reveal last week. Blundell mused on the successes of the Zombies maps saying, "Zombies Chronicles is really about the community that made Zombies what it has become today. Together, we've been slaying the undead for nearly ten years, across different game consoles, and Zombies Chronicles is really about bringing all of those fans together. If you played these maps before on previous consoles, you're getting a new, stunning and challenging experience – if it's your first time, this is eight definitive experiences of our Zombies storyline, all in one place."
The eight maps in Zombies Chronicles are:
- From Call of Duty: World at War: Nacht der Untoten (Abandoned Bunker), Verruckt (Wittenau Sanitorium) and Shi No Numa (Jungle Swamp)
- From Call of Duty: Black Ops: Kino Der Toten (Theater of the Dead), Ascension (Soviet Cosmodrome), Shangri-la (Exotic Jungle Shrine) and Moon (Lunar Base)
- From Call of Duty: Black Ops II: Origins (WWI France)
To celebrate launch day on May 16th, Activision and Treyarch will kick off the "8 Days of the Undead," event during which players of Black Ops III on all platforms and players of Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles on PS4 will be able to earn double XP rewards, engage in community challenges and receive a host of free exclusive content including a Zombies calling card, weapon camo, new Gobble Gums and a PS4 theme.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles will also include the following in the DLC pack alongside the remastered maps and missions:
- 20 Vials of Liquid Divinium
- 2 All-New Whimsical GobbleGums
- Exclusive Zombies Pack-A-Punch Weapon Camo
- Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles Dynamic System Theme for PlayStation 4 (exclusive pre-order incentive), featuring artwork by a renowned artist who wasn't named.
