Microsoft Store Mistakenly Offers Exclusive 'Friday The 13th' Skin Promised To Kickstarter Backers
Well, that's one way to make some people angry. Ever since the Kickstarter project wrapped up for Friday The 13th: The Game, backers were promised that the "Flaming Jason" skin designed by Tom Savini would remain a Kickstarter exclusive. In fact, that's one of the few things that calmed people down who were rioting over Let's Players and media getting copies of the game ahead of them, as the company went online and expressly insisted that the skin stays with those players alone who took the risk on them.
Flash forward to this past weekend when this little item popped up on the Microsoft Store and pissed off tons of Friday The 13th players.
Not only was it available for download, it was free, and many players took full advantage of the unintentional gesture that was quickly corrected by Microsoft. As of when we wrote this, there has been no word from IllFOnic or Gun Media about the mix-up. Our best guess is that it is a download that is only supposed to be accessed by those who specifically backed the Kickstarter program, and somehow in the latest patch, became viewable and unlockable for everyone to see.
In any case, there are now probably several hundred users who have an exclusive skin they didn't earn. It will be interesting to see after all the issues the devs already had fixing the Xbox One version before, how they intend to take those skins back, if at all possible.
