Marvel Heroes Omega Closed Beta Begins Today – On PS4 Only
Gazillion Entertainment announced that the closed beta for Marvel Heroes Omega on PlayStation 4 begins today! For an FTP MMO, it's not a terrible one. Granted the game has been live on PC for years and Omega is simply the name for the console port, so the beta is mostly just a bug check.
To celebrate today's closed beta launch, which will run until May 15, 2017, Gazillion has confirmed "drop-in, two-player, couch co-op for Marvel Heroes Omega. This co-op feature will be available starting today, making it the perfect time to join the closed beta with a friend from the comfort of your living room." Yes, it's split-screen multiplayer. Not sure why Gazillion had to call it "drop-in, two-player, couch co-op" but I applaud their attempt at humor. They're at least trying.
Players interested in joining the PlayStation 4 closed beta for Marvel Heroes Omega can select from a variety of Founder's Packs for sale on the PlayStation Store to secure continued closed beta access. Because betas aren't free anymore, apparently. I'm pretty sure what they were actually going for was "early access" which it makes sense to pay for. A beta is an entirely different thing. But then, what do I know? I've only been beta testing games for years.
All players will receive Daredevil as a free playable character when Marvel Heroes Omega launches later this spring.
"There's never been a better time to be a Marvel fan," said David Von Dorman, CEO at Gazillion. "With so many exciting films, television shows, and comics coming soon, we're beyond excited to be able to bring the characters, costumes, and adventures of the Marvel Universe to life in living rooms around the world. Marvel Heroes Omega has been a true passion project and labor of love for everyone here at Gazillion – and we can't wait for players to experience it for the first time themselves on consoles."
Marvel Heroes Omega is scheduled to launch on PS 4 and Xbox One this spring. Details on open beta launch dates and Xbox One closed beta dates will be announced soon.
The PS4 Closed Beta is not available in all countries and the details about the game's future beta tests remain sketchy.
