Mickey Mouse Horror Game Infestation 88 Debuts New Trailer

We already have the first Mickey Mouse video game based on Steamboat Willie in the public domain, going by the name of Infestation 88.

It hasn't even been a full 24 hours since Steamboat Willie entered the public domain, and we already have a Mickey Mouse horror game called Infestation 88. Indie game developer and publisher Nightmare Forge Games revealed the game this morning, partnering with IGN to release the trailer, as we're introduced to a co-op horror title in which you have to contain an infestation. The trailer starts with a disclaimer acknowledging this is all based on content now in the public domain and has not been authorized or sponsored by the original authors. So, the team is already covering their bases without directly saying who they've taken the content from. Is the game going to be any good? Who knows! It looks freaky, but that doesn't guarantee it will be great. If anything, it could just be the first of many quickly put-together indie titles that want to make a buck off the world's most famous mouse. Enjoy the trailer as the game will be out sometime in 2024.

Infestation 88

A co-op horror in which you're an exterminator treating sinister infestations caused by twisted versions of classic characters and urban legends. What was thought to be an outbreak of vermin in various locations morphed into something far more sinister. Infestation 88 is an episodic, 1-4 player co-op survival horror game in which you and your friends are exterminators called in to treat these mysterious infestations.

  • Find The Source: Explore unique locations and uncover the story behind how each infestation began. Find the means to access and unlock new areas. Use cameras to keep an eye on activity. Maintain power to enable different systems. Find the source at all costs.
  • Treat The Infestation: Utilize a variety of extermination gear to subdue the outbreak. Eradicate all nests and monstrous fiends lurking throughout. Run when you can, hide, help your friends – just don't fall victim to the infestation's spread.
  • Survive: Prepare to face and eliminate a horrific entity, with each episode containing a distinct classic character or urban legend responsible for the infestation.
