Microsoft Renews 'Scalebound' Trademark, Despite No Production Happening On The Game
We totally understand the idea of renewing IP's and making sure your content is protected. But if you're not doing anything with it, what's the purpose? That's what we find ourselves asking today as Microsoft renewed its hold over the Scalebound trademark, despite killing the game off in January.
To be clear: there was no activity on the game's website since October 2016, and the game officially was canceled by Microsoft in January 2017, but in April the company filed a second Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) for the game before it expired in May. The game had already seen setback when game director Hideki Kamiya had to take time off for his mental health, but when the game got the axe earlier this year, it pissed off fans who never even saw the game get a proper shot. Now with this second filing for Scalebound, the speculation has begun as to whether the game is coming back with new leadership and developer, or isMicrosoftt is just doing it for the sake of not letting anyone else take the name and run with it. Whatever the case may be, it's all pretty suspect at this point.
