Overwatch League's Houston Outlaws Relocate Their Training Facility
The Overwatch League's Houston Outlaws are relocating their training facility in Houston after neighbors complained about the team. Apparently, the location of the training facility was a rather fancy house, located in the Woodlands area of Houston. Essentially, a really rich neighborhood with million-dollar homes and people who basically live there for privacy. Neighbors complained about the parking situation and the foot traffic coming to the 5900 square foot home. They even got local media involved by sending the Houston NBC affiliate to the home. Members of the team and their staff didn't talk to anyone on camera. But in a now-deleted tweet, Matt Rodriguez, General Manager of the team said "Neighbors wanted us out so bad they sent TV reporters to the front door to harass our employees today. We're just trynna game. Unfortunate."
Rodriguez also pointed out that the team and the Overwatch League "did the lease through the literal township, which has board members that approved our lease". Meaning that those involved with giving the team the home knew exactly what they'd be doing with it and how many people would be coming and going. While the situation has not been settled, Dot Esports is reporting they have indeed started looking for a new facility location. Whether that puts any stress on the team headed into next month's opener is yet to be seen.
