Pokémon TCG Japan's Wild Force Preview: Gouging Fire Ex

Pokémon TCG Japan has announced Cyber Judge and Wild Force as the next sets. They will focus on the new Legendary Paradox Pokémon.

Article Summary

  • Japan's Pokémon TCG unveils Wild Force and Cyber Judge, based on Paradox Pokémon.
  • The sets, releasing on January 26, 2024, bring back Ace Spec cards with new designs.
  • Wild Force's Gouging Fire ex card debuts, an Ancient Paradox relative of Entei.
  • Scarlet & Violet - Temporal Forces will be the combined English set for March 2024.

Pokémon TCG Japan has begun teasing the next Scarlet & Violet-era sister sets, Wild Force and Cyber Judge. These two sets are themed to the new Legendary Paradox Pokémon released in the recent DLC's expanding on the Paldea region. Wild Force features the ancient ancestors of the Beasts of Johto, the Paradox Pokémon Raging Bolt (an ancestor of Raikou), Gouging Fire (an ancestor of Entei), and Walking Wake (an ancestor of Suicune). Cyber Judge features the future descendants of the Swords of Justice, the Paradox Pokémon Iron Leaves (a descendant of Virizion), Iron Boulder (a descendant of Terrakion), and Iron Crown (a descendant of Cobalion). Both sets hit shelves on January 26th, 2024. These expansions will also reintroduce Ace Spec cards with a new holo pattern. It has already been confirmed that these sets will combine to make up our English-language Pokémon TCG set for March 2024, Scarlet & Violet – Temporal Forces. Today, let's take a look at one of the Paradox Pokémon ex from Wild Force.

Wild Force focuses on the three Ancient Paradox Beasts, and the first card we're showing from the set is Gouging Fire ex. This Ancient ancestor of Entei looks like quite a beast, living up to the nickname of its descendant's group. Let's take a look at the Dex entries for this newly released Fire/Dragon-type Pokémon so we can get to know it better ahead of its TCG debut:

  • There are scant few reports of this creature being sighted. One short video shows it rampaging and spouting pillars of flame.
  • It resembles an eerie Pokémon once shown in a paranormal magazine. That Pokémon was said to be an Entei regenerated from a fossil.

It has not yet been announced if Gouging Fire ex will get a Special Illustration Rare, but I think it's quite likely. Japanese sets often give us early ideas of what the English-language sets may include, so be sure to keep an eye on our coverage.
