Respawn Bans Over 355K Apex Legends Cheaters, But Players Want More Banned Faster

Respawn Entertainment find themselves in the middle of a conflict with their players this week over cheating happening in Apex Legends. Two different sides of the same coin seem to be prominent entering the weekend, as the company boasts about banning a massive amount of cheaters, while the players have taken to Reddit yelling that the company isn't banning people fast enough. First, the bannings, as the company took to their Reddit page to announce they have banned over 355,000 players for cheating since the game has started, and are working to keep a vigilant eye on cheaters. That's one of the biggest mass-bannings within the first three months of activity in gaming history. Which is sure to continue growing as they find new ways to detect programs and players who find ways to corrupt the system.

However, that news doesn't seem to be quelling people who are pissed off about the cheating, as a thread in that same Apex Legends Reddit is demanding that Respawn ban people at a faster rate. The thread takes a very serious tone demanding the company region-lock China as a step toward ending cheating faster in other servers. The argument being made is that since the majority of cheaters statistically come from China, that players from that country be given a ping restriction limiting them to only playing with other Chinese players, and not allowing them to play against other countries in the region like South Korea and or Japan. Whether or not Respawn actually takes those demands seriously is another discussion altogether, but at this point, locking off an entire country to only be able to play against themselves probably isn't going to happen. And if it did, it would probably kill off the Chinese market for the game.
