Shiny Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem Come to Pokémon GO in Huge Update

Last December, Niantic left Pokémon GO players stunned when the typically eventful holiday features included five weeks of Kyurem in raids with no new content. Now, it seems as if Niantic is intent to make up for that by closing out 2021 with perhaps the most stacked month of events, Shiny Legendary releases, and more than we've seen all through 2021. Let's get into the details.

The following details were announced for December 2021 raids in Pokémon GO:

  • Shiny Legendary releases:
    • Wednesday, December 1st, 2021 at 10 AM through Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at 10 AM: Reshiram and Zekrom will be in Tier Five raids with their Shiny forms available.
      • Raid hours during this rotation: December 1st, December 8th, December 15th
      • Raid hours during this rotation: December 22nd, December 29th
    • Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at 10 AM through Friday, December 31st, 2021 at 10 AM: Kyurem will be in Tier Five raids with their Shiny forms available.
  • Mega Raids:
    • Wednesday, December 1st, 2021 at 10 AM through Thursday, December 23rd, 2021 at 10 AM: Mega Steelix release.
    • Wednesday, December 24th, 2021 at 10 AM through Friday, January 7th, 2021 at 10 AM: Mega Abomasnow returns.

This is going to lead to an incredibly intense raid cycle in Pokémon GO during December 2021. Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem are all useful Legendaries that pack some true power. Reshiram and Zekrom, with the exception of their one-day raid feature during GO Fest 2021, haven't had a proper raid rotation since the summer of 2020, before Remote Raid Invites came out. They were initially supposed to be featured during the rollout of Remote Raid Invites. However, that feature was delayed, leading Niantic to promise players another chance at the draconic duo soon. Instead, we saw a massive stretch of time without them.

Stay tuned for more December 2021 updates from Pokémon GO, including a breakdown of the upcoming events, details on the incredible Deino feature in the Research Breakthrough box, and information regarding the month's Spotlight Hours.
