THQ Nordic Raises $225 Million Toward More Game Acquisitions

If there was ever a Disney-like company in the world of video gaming where someone buys up old IPs, THQ Nordic would be that company. Over the past couple of years, we've reported the company snatching up game franchises from the past left and right as if they have a grand plan to re-release some of these or make new ones. However, we've seen very little return in this area. Which makes sense since it takes a while to produce new games or remaster old one. But if you think the company was going to take a breather anytime soon, you're wrong. GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that THQ Nordic has acquired another $225 million to secure more IPs.

THQ Nordic

The Darksiders publisher issues 11 million new Class B shares last night, which were quickly snapped up by a variety of investors, including some who have yet to invest in THQ Nordic.

Among the new shareholders were First National AP Fund, Second National AP Fund and Odin Fonder. Meanwhile, established shareholders Swedbank Robur Fonder, TIN Fonder and Olsson Family and Foundation picked up more shares.

The publisher has described the new share issue as "substantially oversubscribed."

What games THQ Nordic has its eyes on us only know to those inside the company, but that much money could buy a number of classic PC titles from the '90s and '00 that have gone to the wind. Only time will tell what they intend to purchase.
