Report Claims The Nintendo NX Has Delayed Production To Incorporate VR
The Nintendo NX is a weird mystery to us still. The console is meant to come March 2017, but thus far, it remains silent.
This new report from Digitimes is very interesting though. They say that production on the console, which was supposed to be starting around now, has been pushed back into 2017. The reason? Nintendo want to add a VR component to the console. This could mean console shortages could be a real thing at launch.
The report also claims that the NX is indeed the long rumoured home/mobile hybrid. They say:
The sources pointed out that the Nintendo NX combines the video gaming experience with the mobile gaming experience. The device features a 5- to 7-inch display, controller and joystick for users to play as a mobile gaming product, but it is also able to connect to a TV for users to play as a video game system.
I'd take this report with a pinch of salt, even though Digitimes are quite reputable. The idea of Nintendo making a mobile/console hybrid that also incorporates VR is a lot to take in. Nintendo are a pretty wacky company though, so maybe they would do it. Maybe. We will have to see.
