Agent Carter Fans? Tell The Network What You Like, Or Else…
I'm a pretty big fan of the recent Marvel TV series Agent Carter, especially when the show seemed to seemingly reinvent itself on a weekly basis. For a Marvel show without superheroes, it also played with the concept of identity remarkably.
Anyway, apparently I should have said something.
At the Making Of The Modern Superheroine panel at Wondercon, (reported in full by BC EIC Hannah Means-Shannon here), writer Jose Molina talked about the reception the show had gotten.
And said that he wished he could encourage people who had criticisms about Carter to also praise the things they liked about the show when approaching the network, being encouraging rather than "nitpicking" about keeping progressive shows alive. Otherwise the networks only ever hear the negative and don't want to take risks with diverse characters in shows.
Oops. Okay, I didn't nitpick, bit I didn't send a note of congratulations. Possibly because, in the UK, I'm not meant to be able to (thank you ABC streaming sites).
But maybe I will now. I'll pretend I'm from Poughkeepsie or somesuch.
