John Krasinski and Natalie Portman are teaming up with Guy Ritchie in a new film for Apple and Skydance. Titled Fountain of Youth, the film will follow a pair of siblings on an adventure around the world to find, you guessed it, the fountain of youth. It sounds like a mix of National Treasure and Indiana Jones to me; at least, that is what I am getting from the Deadline announcement. Apple and Skydance seem to have clicked, and they already had a massive hit last month with Mark Wahlberg's film The Family Plan, which became the most successful film launch on Apple TV+ ever.
John Krasinski & Natalie Portman Can Pull Off Brother And Sister
The film's script is written by James Vanderbilt. John Krasinski has been a busy man, but mainly behind the camera. After directing two A Quiet Place films, his next film is Paramount's IF, which he wrote, directed, produced, and stars in. He has come a long way since starring for nine seasons on The Office for NBC/Universal. Natalie Portman is an Academy Award-winning actress who has been busy herself after sporadically appearing in projects for a bit. She can currently be seen in Todd Haynes's new drama for Netflix, May December.
I can see John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as siblings, so this has a real shot at working. It's a shame it won't go to theaters, as I bet this one will scream to be seen on a big screen, but that we will get it at all feels like a win—more on this one as we learn it.
