Co-Writer Of Batman V Superman To Write Star Wars: Episode IX – Could This Happen?
Chris Terrio has been announced as the new co-writer of Star Wars: Episode IX, replacing Jack Thorne on the movie, writing alongside its new director J.J. Abrams.
The temptation would be to make lots of lens flare light saber jokes with Abrams, but there has to be rich territory with Terrio, too. This, considering that Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice was written by Chris Terrio and David Goyer:
OK, that's all I've got. Your turn. Snoke's mother coincidentally also being called Leia. Look, it's been a long day — you do better. Maybe work out how these Man Of Steel pods will fit into any new Death Star…
In June 2014, Rian Johnson was announced as writing a story treatment for Episode IX, though by April 2017, he stated he would not be involved with writing the film. In August 2015, Colin Trevorrow was announced as the director of Episode IX. Trevorrow, along with Derek Connolly, began writing the script. On February 10, 2016, Disney chief executive officer Bob Iger confirmed that pre-production of Episode IX had begun. In August 2017, it was announced that Jack Thorne would rewrite the script. But then on September 5, 2017, Lucasfilm announced that Trevorrow had stepped down as director of the film. Today, it was announced that J. J. Abrams will direct the film and co-write it with Chris Terrio.
Principal photography is now set to begin in January 2018. The film is scheduled to be released on May 24, 2019.
