[SPOILERS] Kevin Feige Teases The Future For Michelle In 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'Toward the end of the movie Peter is sitting with the Academic Decathlon team when his teacher names Michelle as the new couch. Michelle tells the team that her friends call her "MJ". This is obviously a hint toward the famous Spider-Man live interest Mary Jane Watson but Kevin Feige talked to Den of Geek about the MJ reveal and what it means for Michelle going forward.

In setting up this will be a very different thing, she's not Mary Jane Watson, that's not who the character is. But giving her the initials that remind you of that dynamic certainly is intriguing about what could go forward.

So the connection isn't meant to a specific character but to hint at a relationship and dynamic that fans are familiar with. She's an original character with a nickname that is basically an Easter egg to people who knows about Peter's history.

Clearly, she says she's not obsessed with him, she's just observant. But she's there. And to have fun with that while at the same time having it be different characters that can provide a different dynamic [is the point].

[SPOILERS] Kevin Feige Teases The Future For Michelle In 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'Rehashing the MJ or Gwen dynamic yet again is not something the Spider-Man series needs. It needs something new and different and if this is the way Marvel and Sony have decided to approach romance for Peter then at least we're getting something different. Michelle is a great character who should have gotten more screen time and Zendaya has great comedic timing when it comes to the deadpan delivery.

She's not the MJ of the comics, she's something new and different, and a character we have just met. Let's give her a chance before we declare this to be the worst thing ever.

Summary: Following the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), Peter Parker attempts to balance his life in high school with his career as the web-slinging superhero Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, and Michael Keaton. Swing on down to your local theater and check it out now.
