Game Of Thrones Prequel Show Is Just Speculation Says George R.R. Martin
There has been a lot of talk about what is next for Game of Thrones once we come out of the other side of the next two seasons that will finish the show off. Speculation has been rife for quite some time that a spinoff of some kind is imminent, a prequel more so, but nothing has been announced this far.
Speaking at the Emmy's media center yesterday (via Deadline), the franchise creator George R.R. Martin shot those theories down somewhat. He says that the material to create such a thing exists, but he remined everyone that there is a whole lot of show and book left before the writing talent can think about where to go next. He said:
"I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones, so there's a lot of material there and I'm writing more. At the moment we still have this show to finish and I still have two books to finish so that's all speculation.
He's not wrong either. Lets get through the show and the books, then gauge the appetite for more Thrones. This is all very prematrue.
