Historical Game Featuring The Confederate Flag Reinstated Onto The AppStore
The other day, I wrote a story about how Apple had taken a somewhat scorched earth approach to the confederate flag discussion, by banning all references to the flag from its AppStore. This included the historically accurate game Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
Well, as a bit of clean up, it seems that the game is back on the market after the developer made arrangements with the publisher. Speaking on their Facebook page (via Eurogamer), the developer said:
Ultimate General is back. Unchanged.
After several late night phone calls with Apple yesterday and today the game has returned to Appstore the way it was… in 1863.
This is good to see, because it is never good to see a game maker punished for historical accuracies. This seems the sensible approach now, and I hope Apple look at this on a case by case basis going forward.
