Kevin Feige Talks About The Challenges Of Bringing The Netflix Heroes Onto The Big Screen
Marvel's Kevin Feige has been out and about with Doctor Strange, so we are getting a lot of quote from him at the moment. One question he keeps getting asked about are the heroes in Infinity War, and inevitably, the heroes hanging around on Netflix.
He has given a new interesting answer though. While a lot of the talk has centered around tone up to this point, and the challenge of bringing R-Rated heroes into a family friendly fare, Feige says the challenge lies in doing it right and giving the characters enough time to shine. Speaking to Collider, he said:
I think it's extremely impressive what Netflix has done and it will be the same answer I always give, which is, "It all depends on timing." It all depends on how to do it because I don't think what anybody wants to do is have such important characters show up for one second. Black Panther and Spider-Man to me are the high bar in Civil War of how you can bring in new characters into something. Vision and Ultron, Wanda and Pietro in Ultron. And it takes a lot of screentime, and it takes a lot of work. Infinity War has a lot of people in it already. So it just depends on how we could figure it out.
I've never entirely bought the 'tone' argument before, as I think it is easy enough to just have The Defenders not swearing and killing people, so this answer is one I think is probably more true. Infinity War could end up being a glorified version of the Anchorman newsteams brawl with so many groups and heroes.
"And don't forget about the Defenders!"… I dunno, that could actually be alright.
