He says that "We've got a couple of big films being announced in the next few weeks, one of which you'll hear about on the 27th May. I can't say more here, but you'll see how cool this is when the news drops. It's ridiculously exciting and teams me up with someone I love dearly. Stay tuned. That's May 27th!" These are likely to be Millarworld/Netflix films, to follow up on his previous work for the streaming service, Chosen One, Jupiter's Legacy and Supercrooks. BIRDDAD
(W/A) Emily Brooks Millar
Birddad is a rambling, fast-talking, attention-seeking ladies' man- who just so happens to be a bird. He's lived a long and fruitful life, full of adventure, questionable wisdom, and the occasional existential crisis. Now, in his very own 72-page softcover graphic novel, he's ready to take flight. This project was written and illustrated in my home studio, where I'm surrounded by city pigeons and their chaotic family dynamics. It seems only right that Birddad was hatched in the company of his real-world counterparts, all equally dramatic in their own way. Set within the ever-expanding A Broken Apple universe, Birddad perches comfortably alongside Be More Gus & As Told By Rats. This world is a little strange, a little too familiar, and just the right amount of off-kilter: where creatures overthink, people make a mess of things, and life rarely plays out the way it should. Birddad balances humour with something a little deeper. He's a character who's seen it all, done it all, and has a story (or five) to tell. Whether it be with his womanising best friend, Worm, his girlfriend Cindy or his sons, Gravel & No.2- there's always advice to be shared…
