Marvel Confirms the Title of the Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel
Last Saturday Tom Holland took to Instagram and posted a video where he said he had the the script for the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. He turned the iPad toward the screen and people were able to read the title, which read Spider-Man: Far From Home. At the time it wasn't confirmed, and Marvel and Sony weren't talking yet, so it was just a rumor.
It seems that we can now confirm that this is the official title for the movie. According to Deadline, Sony and Marvel have officially announced that the next Spider-Man movie will be called Spider-Man: Far From Home.
In an interview with io9, Kevin Feige was asked about the upcoming sequel and gave some hints about what the movie is going to be about.
"Well, when does that movie take place?" Feige asked. "We know it's the summer. I think it's summer vacation. I think he's going to Europe with his friends. I don't know what summer… I mean, I do know [but you don't]."
Feige is playing coy about when the movie is going to take place, but it was confirmed over a year ago that this Spider-Man movie would take place after Avengers 4 and be the start of the new slate of movies. One of the things that the Spider-Man movies haven't done yet is get Peter Parker out of New York City. At the moment we don't know much about the movie, though Jake Gyllenhaal is rumored to be in talks to to play Mysterio.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released on July 5th, 2019.
