New Venom: Let There Be Carnage Poster Teases the Entire Cast
Ever since it became apparent that Delta variant was going to impact the fall movie season, people have been waiting to see which studio blinks first. And by "blink," we mean "delay" yet another movie due to the rising numbers of infections. It looked like Sony was going to be the first one out of the gate when they made the decision to delay Venom: Let There Be Carnage by about three weeks to mid-October. This was kind of a strange move since it gave them more competition, they are now releasing it the same weekend as Halloween Kills, and a three-week delay isn't going to make a huge difference when it came to numbers. It was a very "early 2020" mindset when we all thought this thing would be taken care of by Memorial Day.
During CinemaCon, Sony did very little to acknowledge Venom: Let There Be Carnage and instead released a new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home and screened Ghostbusters: Afterlife in its entirety. Not long after, the rumors began that Venom would move from October 2021 to January 2022, but Sony never came out and confirmed it. However, a few days later, another report said the first report wasn't correct. Sony released a new poster today, and the release date at the bottom remains October 15th. So, for now, we're getting the Venom sequel in about six weeks, but all know how fast these things can change.
"Over a year after the events of Venom (2018), investigative journalist Eddie Brock struggles to adjust to life as the host of the alien symbiote Venom, which grants him super-human abilities in order to be a lethal vigilante. Brock attempts to reignite his career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady, who becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage and escapes prison after a failed execution."
Venom: Let There Be Carnage, directed by Andy Serkis, stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. It will be released in theaters on October 15, 2021.
