One Million Moms Try To Get TV Land To Not Air 'Teachers'
TV Land is an American basic cable and satellite television channel owned by Viacom. Earlier this year they were targeted by the pressure group over the TV drama they ran, Impastor.
It revolves around Buddy Dobbs, a gambling, pot-smoking slacker, on the run from a loan shark, who steals a man's identity and ends up posing as the new gay pastor in a small, tightknit town.
The previews which air earlier in the evening include sex, theft, murder, drug use, and foul language.
This show not only depicts pastors in a negative light, but the entire program will also be based on lies about Christianity. TV Land has crossed the line by belittling the Christian faith with foul jokes.
We need to send a loud and clear message to advertisers that this kind of programming is insulting and completely unacceptable. Networks like TV Land continue to mock Christianity. "Impastor" is another attempt to distort the truth about Christianity. There is strength in numbers so forward this to everyone you know!
Members were encouraged to contact advertisers such as Red Lobster and Cetaphil for advertising during the show, asking them to pull support or face a boycott.
The show was renewed for a second season.
Well, One Million Moms has now turned its attention to another TV Land show, Teachers.
Teaching is an honorable job, but also a thankless job. Students are showing less respect for teachers every year and programs like this are not going to help the situation. Teachers are already under appreciated and kids are bullied enough by peers, but apparently nothing is off limits for this TV Land show that drags teachers through the mud and then has teachers viciously abusing students.
Teacher discussions with students, coworkers, and parents involve sexual innuendos, one night stands, sleeping around, drugs, alcohol, lying, deception, and romantic weekends.
1MM wants to support and encourage teachers, not belittle, mock, or bring them down like TV Land is doing. Everyone knows that the entertainment industry desensitizes viewers, especially impressionable young minds.
They are asking members to sign a petition to TV Land to drop the show. But if that didn't work with something like Impastor, do they really think it will work with Teachers?
BTW, for comparison, here's the UK show Teachers. They'd have a stroke!
