Report: Hugh Jackman Nearly Castrated Himself With Wolverine Claws
Playing Wolverine for seventeen years is a dangerous job, and not just because of the frequent dehydration to prepare for shirtless scenes. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hugh Jackman revealed that in the course of filming fight scenes as the X-Men's stabby little runt, Jackman nearly cut off his own.
"I can't tell you how many people I stabbed, how I stabbed myself. They were killing machines," Jackman said of Wolverine's claws. The Australian actor revealed that he once stabbed Mystique's stunt double in the arms, and that in his determination not to inflict wounds on others, he neglected to follow through with protecting himself. "I've got a number of scars on my thighs, and it's really not cool. Got pretty close to some sensitive areas, but everything's fine."
It's a good thing Jackman managed to avoid disaster. As far as we know, unlike Wolverine, Jackman doesn't have a healing factor that would allow any severed appendages to grow back.
Logan is in theaters now, and you should see it. It's pretty good.
