Robert Orci Not Directing Star Trek 3

star trek posterIt seems the deal for Robert Orci to direct his first feature film and take over for J J Abrams on the rebooted Star Trek franchise was all but done. Turns out that is not the case as Orci is no longer in line to direct the film but will stay on as producer. Orci worked as a writer on the first two films and recently parted from his longtime partner Alex Kurtzman. He also stepped away from directing The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers film a while back.

Word is that Edgar Wright is on the short list to take over directing the third Star Trek film.
