Samuel L. Jackson Takes His Case For Mace Windu Surviving Episode III Death To Star Wars Celebration Orlando

Samuel L. Jackson appeared at Star Wars Celebration Orlando vie prerecorded message today in order to take his case for Mace Windu surviving his apparent death in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. In the scene, Windu's arm was sliced off by Anakin Skywalker, he was electrocuted with force lightning by Darth Sideous, and then he fell out the side of a space building. Pretty much the only death scene more convincing than that was at the end of The Naked Gun.

In any case, Jackson isn't giving up the fight. Noting that there is precedent in Star Wars canon for Jedi surviving falls from great heights, Jackson implied he is available to appear in future sequels. The crowd was unanimously in favor of Jackson's proposal.

This isn't the first time Jackson has tried to undo his Star Wars death. Last Summer, Jackson revealed that he always held the theory that "In my mind, I'm not dead. Jedis can fall incredibly high distances and not die." Jackson also claimed there is a tradition of one-handed Jedi in Star Wars. He even took his case to George Lucas himself, who agreed, "I'm okay with that. You can be alive."

Of course, at that time, Lucas had already given up control of the Star Wars franchise after selling it to Disney. But now that Jackson has taken his case to the masses (and Lucas again, who was on stage at the time), might his fan theory come true? And will we need to get a "special edition" of the prequels to show Windu surviving? We'll have to wait and see.
