The Flash Season 4 – Iris Takes Charge And Barry's Awakening
The new season of The Flash kicks off six months after Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) has sacrificed himself to the Speed Force. The team has tried to move on with Iris West (Candice Patton) stepping up into a leadership role while Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) do their best to fill in for the Scarlet Speedster. Meanwhile, inside the Speed Force things don't happen linearly and Barry is reliving his life over and over again, and when he does get out, he's going to be changed and a bit scattered.
DC All-Access talked with the cast about where their characters are when the fourth season picks up. Patton talks about Iris throwing herself into leading Team Flash as a way to cope with having lost her best friend and fiancee. Gustin talks about how Barry has had an awakening while in the Speed Force but is also discombobulated by the non-linear world he is trapped in. Valdes talks about how Vibe, Kid Flash and Joe West (Jesse L Martin) are out in the field now, trying to pick up the slack.
Executive producer Todd Helbing talks about the main story for the season of The Thinker vs The Flash… the Thinker sees the flaws in humanity and wants to fix them, but has to take the Flash down to make that happen. The battle will be less about physical confrontation and more about mind games. Gutin talks about how this season will be a chance to shake off the guilt Barry has built up and get back to being the optimistic leader who enjoys his powers. Something fans have been wanting for a while.
The Flash returns on October 10th to the CW.
