Toy Story Always Had The Intention Of Continuing Says Pixar Director
Toy Story 3 was a very natural end point for the franchise. The story wrapped up beautifully, and the film focused on growing up in a way that had finality to it. Then we started getting a lot of talk about a Toy Story 4, which some thought to be fincially driven.
According to Wall-E and Finding Dory director Andrew Stanton though, there was always a plan to go further in the series. Speaking to Yahoo, the Pixar man said:
Nobody's harder on us [about] making a great Toy Story movie than we are. We know what it feels like to hit the bull's-eye. And that's part of the reason we've delayed it, so that we can really nail it. I know there's a lot of concern about 'why a fourth?' But the truth is, we always had the intention of continuing.
I'm cautiously down for more Toy Story, but it does have to be the right story and not cheapen the ending of 3. It seems steps are being made to assure that, which is encouraging.
