Valentine's Day Shocker: Nearly Half Of Couples With Netflix Subscriptions Cheat
Thinking of going all out tomorrow to show your significant other how much you care about them? You might want to reconsider.
A recent survey of 30,000 Netflix-watching couples conducted by Netflix revealed some startling data about the state of relationships: 46%, nearly half, of couples admit to cheating. No, we're not talking about engaging in romantic or sexual relationships with outside parties without first securing an agreement with your significant other to do so. We're talking about something far, far worse: watching episodes of a show you normally stream with your partner without them.
And just in case you think it might be a one-time mistake, with partners regretting destroying the foundation of streaming trust upon which any good relationship is built, the survey further reveals that 81% of cheaters have done so more than once, and 60% would do it even more if they could get away with it. Cheating occasions are evenly split between while a partner is at work, on a business trip, and sleeping. That's right, your partner could be cheating on you (with Netflix) right there next to you in bed! Gross!
If you suspect that your partner may be Netflix cheating on you, Netflix has helpfully offered to increase your paranoia by compiling some Netflix cheaters profiles:
So remember, as you prepare to spend a romantic Valentine's Day with your partner tomorrow (or partners – we're not judging here at Bleeding Cool), know that there's basically a 50/50 chance they are watching your favorite TV shows behind your back.
And also probably sleeping with your best friend.
