50th Anniversary of Woodstock Concert Will Happen at Original Site

2019 brings with it a monumental milestone in the world of music- the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. Perhaps one of the most famous concerts to ever take place, the original festival in 1969 happened over three days, and had an attendance of upwards of 400,000 people.

It was announced this morning that the 50th anniversary event will be taking place on the site of the original concert which is now the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel Lake, New York.

CEO of the Bethel Woods Center Darlene Fedun said in a statement:

"We are thrilled to partner with Live Nation and INVNT to produce Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival. Fifty years ago, people gathered peacefully on our site inspired to change the world through music. As the stewards of this historic site, we remain committed to preserving this rich history and spirit, and to educating and inspiring new generations to contribute positively to the world through music, culture, and community."

Its worth noting that this announcement does NOT come from Michael Lang, one of the organizers of the original Woodstock event who has said numerous times there were plans in place for the big anniversary.

Hopefully there will be less mud this time around. Although the 25th anniversary concert in 1994 did have a pretty spectacular mud-covered performance from Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails.

The 50th anniversary event will take place August 15th-17th 2019.
