Renee Young to Replace Jonathan Coachman on WWE Raw Commentary Monday… For One Night Only?
In what is surely another brave step in the Women's Evolution (TM) which sees WWE treat female performers as equal to male performers, righting the decades of injustice perpetrated against them by… er… WWE, Renee Young will sit at the commentary table during the final Monday Night Raw before SummerSlam.
"Don't miss Renee Young's historic Raw announce team debut live this Monday at 8/7 C on USA Network," WWE announced on their website, never missing an opportunity to call "historic" an event which is only a big deal because WWE never once before thought that a woman could handle announcing for one of their weekly televised fake fighting programs.
"Who knew that the formula of two white guys and one black guy on Raw and SmackDown at all times would not be seen as cutting-edge progressivism," some WWE executive probably pondered while making the decision to have Young fill in for Jonathan Coachman, who will be fulfilling other duties, probably at the Golf Channel. "Thought for sure we'd nailed it."
But can a woman really announce an entire episode of Raw? It's never been done before. Surely there must be a good reason, right? For more on that, we asked world-renowned Feminologist and real person, Professor Thaddeus T. Puffinbottoms, if a woman can be capable of announcing a televised wrestling program.
"Yes," Professor Puffinbottoms explained.
Well, there you have it.
