Batman and the Outsiders Archives
Originally created by Mike W. Barr and Jim Aparo for 1983's The Brave and the Bold #200, the Outsiders are a superhero team founded by Batman as an alternative to the more mainstream Justice League. The original lineup featured Black Lightning, Metamorpho, Geo-Force, Katana, Halo, and Looker, but the team has undergone many transformations over the years and featured in numerous volumes of their own book.
The most recent volume, Batman and the Outsiders, by writer Bryan Hill and artist Dexter Soy, launched in 2019, spinning out of a storyline written by Hill in Detective Comics. This version stars Black Lightning and Katana training a team of young Batman sidekicks including Signal and Orphan. The new series sparked outcry from Black Lightning creator Tony Isabella.
