5 Things to Watch on TV Today – December 27th, 2017
It's a Wednesday that feels like anything but because of Christmas falling on Monday. It's the second day of the work week, yet we're now halfway to Friday. As confusing as it seems, at least we here at BC can try and help keep your television viewing on track for the week. Thanks to Syfy and the History channel, there are still some good new episode to watch tonight. Let's jump right in and take a look at five things to watch on TV today.
First off, if you are looking to binge watch something, AMC is having an Into the Badlands marathon starting at 9 a.m. and running through 1:16 a.m. The plan is to run all the episodes of the badass martial arts drama from the first two seasons. And the series has already been renewed for a third season. If you're not familiar with the series, it has the master/apprentice concept from classic martial arts films with a modern fell. A mighty warrior and a young boy search for enlightenment in a ruthless territory controlled by feudal barons.
For fans of esports, the CW will be airing the EA Madden NFL 18 Challenge at 8 p.m. tonight. One of the most popular game series in the world, the event takes eight competitive gamers and have them battle for the title of Madden NFL Challenge champion and a share of the $150,000 prize.
History Channel has a new episode of Vikings starting at 9 p.m. where Lagertha is betrayed, and Bjorn must find a way to support the distraught queen; Floki and his settlers arrive in a new land, but it is far from what they expected. The series that brought big facial hair back into vogue and made YouTube videos of the Muppet's Swedish Chef soar in popularity continues on its fifth season.
Also on the History Channel at 10 p.m. has the freshman series Knightfall… which I was surprised to learn has nothing to do with Bane breaking Batman's back and everything to do with the Knight's Templar. The fourth episode has Landry revisiting his past as Gawain investigates a murder and Princess Isabella is double-crossed. The series stars Tom Cullen, Pádraic Delaney, and Simon Merrells.
And finally, one of my favorite new series of the season is Syfy's Happy! which airs at 10 p.m. The series stars Christopher Meloni, Patton Oswalt, and Ren Colley and is based on the Garth Ennis / Darick Robertson graphic novel. Tonight, Sax and Happy follow the trail to Chinatown. Blue's sister wants revenge for the death of her sons. Merry closes in on Very Bad Santa.
