Arrow Season 6: When and Why Roy Harper / Arsenal Returns

There have been rumors of a return to Arrow for actor Colton Haynes. Three months back he teased a return for Roy Harper aka Arsenal on Twitter and then this week Arrow star Stephen Amell hit social media with an old video of them working together. The CW has decided to end the speculation and confirm that Hayne will indeed be making a return during season six.

According to the network, there will be a short story arc starting in episode 15 where Roy will return. The show is currently on hiatus and will return January 18th with episode 10 which means episode 15 will likely air February 22nd.

In the statement, executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle said:

We're thrilled to announce that Colton Haynes will be reprising his role as Roy Harper. Roy is called back to Star City to help resolve an urgent matter with high stakes for the team. His short visit turns into something surprising when he reunites with Thea and sparks a change in both of their lives that will have long-lasting consequences….

Haynes joined the series in the first season as a thief living in the narrows who steals the purse of Thea Queen (Willa Holland), which lead to a romance between the two and him becoming the vigilante Arsenal, following in the footsteps of Thea's brother Oliver. He was a series regular through season three when he posed as the Arrow and faked his death in prison to clear Oliver's name. He left Starling City but made a guest appearance in season 4. He's most recently been on Scream Queens, The Grinder and American Horror Story: Cult.
